Sacramental Searches
Sacramental registers are retained at the parish. In general, current certificates are issued only to the individual requesting his/her
record or to a person who has a legitimate reason for requesting a
family record (such as the parent of a minor child or an immediate
relative if the individual is deceased).
Requests made by government or corporate agencies (e.g. Social Security Administration, immigration, insurance companies etc.) or anyone other than those named above should be accompanied by a signed release by the person whose record is requested, or by a legally qualified guardian,
authorizing the release of the information.
Please note that current available Ancestral Records are as follows:
- Baptisms: 1804 - 1925
- Families: 1823 - 1928
- Communions: 1827 - 1855
- Confirmations: 1816 - 1917
- Deaths/Burials: 1804 - 1841
- Marriages: 1805 - 1925
Other dates will be available in the near future.
All requests should include the name of the requester; his/her address, and phone number; as much information known of the person(s) to be researched; and the specific information needed.
Letters of Request and the initial $10 fee may be mailed to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 58 Third St., Troy, NY 12180 or emailed to: communications@stpaulstroy.org (Subject: Search Request) and followed with the intial fee.
Research Fees
Research fees are $30/hour, with a minimum fee of $10. As appropriate,
postal and reproduction fees may be added to these fees. Fees are
payable by cashier check or money order made out to: St. Paul's Episcopal Church, (memo: Search Request) prior to release of information.
Note that these fees are for the search itself and apply whether or
not requested information is found. The all-volunteer staff will
answer all requests as time permits. Please allow up to four weeks for
a response.
